Life in the mountains relies upon the purchase of provisions in the nearest weekly market or “souk”. The souk experience is quite unlike shopping in a Western market and is an excellent introduction to the Moroccan Berber way of life.
There are two souks near Kasbah Angour, one on a Tuesday and the other on a Saturday. On Tuesdays, the souk is held just to the north-east of Tahanaout, 8km away. On Saturdays, the souk is held in Asni 15km away.
We can organise guided visits to either souk. For the visit to the Tahanaout souk, there is the possibility to walk back to Kasbah Angour with the guide following a more direct route through the countryside (about 2 hours).
A guided visit to the Tuesday Tahanaout souk can also be combined with an excursion by car to Oukaimeden or the Ourika Valley and the Saturday Asni souk with Sidi Fares (see Mountains by Car excursions).
